11 days and counting Southbounders! There’s some absolutely essential camping information regarding the new format you’ll need to know ahead of planning your trip – PLEASE READ BELOW TO AVOID ANY DISAPPOINTMENT WITH THE NEW CAMPING CHANGES.
Whilst we tried our best to get the campgrounds licensed, we were unsuccessful. So unfortunately alcohol is not permitted into the campgrounds. We’re excited about the fact that you can now camp next to your cars this Southbound (and all the benefits it brings) and we really want to see it back next year – for that to happen, we need everyone to do the right thing and understand that we cannot let you bring alcohol into the campgrounds. This new camping format is an awesome privilege for us all, so do the right thing – leave the booze at home and don’t hold up the queues.
Due to our licensing restrictions, if anyone is caught attempting to bring alcohol into the campgrounds, you and everyone in the car will have their tickets cancelled and will have to return home immediately. All vehicles will be searched thoroughly and random checks will be occurring.
Carpooling is a must – with such limited space in the camping area, cars ideally need to be filled up with 3’s and 4’s. Each camping space allocated per car is enough to accommodate 2 x standard size 2-man tents or 1 x standard size 4-man tent. Read further below for your tent sizes and info on allocated spaces. Head here for more information on carpooling.
When you enter the camping site, you and your vehicle will be ushered into a spot. This is a queuing process by order so you cannot choose where in the campsite your car will be positioned and as such, getting a camping spot next to your friends is not guaranteed. If you want to stay close to mates, make sure you are following directly behind in your vehicle, it should improve your chances – but sorry, there are no guarantees.
Once you’re in your camping spot, you will not be able to leave with your vehicle before 6am on Monday 5th Jan. Due to our event permit and for everybody’s safety, no vehicle movement will be permitted in the campground before then. If you need to leave on Sunday night or early on Monday to get to work, you will need to camp in the walk-in campground. If it’s absolutely critical for you to leave early, you will need to make arrangements with us in advance to park in the farmer’s paddock and walk into a tent-only section so you will be able to leave prior to 6am on Monday. This means that you will not have access to your vehicle once you are inside the walk-in campground, until you need to leave. These are for extenuating cases only though, if you fall in to this category then please contact us at info@sunsetevents.com.au and we will give you further information.
Each camp site is a total of 38.5sqm. This allows 3.5m x 5.5m for your car and 3.5m x 5.5m for your camping area. The space allows for 1 x standard size 4-man tent or 2 x standard size 2-man tents. No gazebos or marquees, unless you’re actually camping directly under it in a swag. The sizes allocated for the car and camping area are based on standards from other events on the east coast and around the world. So please, do some measurements before departing to ensure you only bring with you what will fit in your allocated space. If you have a large vehicle and you won’t fit in the space outlined above, you will need to purchase a ticket for and camp in the large vehicle camping area. Please contact us at info@sunsetevents.com.au and we will provide you with further details.
The above info is critical for you to have a good camping experience so thanks for tuning in! We’ll be in touch with more information next week before New Years Eve.
